Luis Ponte - Chief Executive Officer

Luis founded the company in 2003 and has been the CEO since inception. An Ex-Royal Navy Clearance Diver, Luis embarked on a police career in 1991. He started his career with Hertfordshire Constabulary and became a member of their Tactical Firearms Unit.  Following successful completion a Firearms Instructors course with the RUC, Luis began collaboratively working with the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire firearms units. He transferred to North Yorkshire Police in 2001 as a Firearms Instructor, where he completed a Centrex trainer’s course before leaving the force in 2005 to expand JML Software.

Andrew Kane - Chief Technology Officer

Andrew was recruited to JML Software Solutions in February 2010. He came to JML after 6 years working at Experian as a Software Development Manager, where he was responsible for one their market-leading financial products and ran both on-shore and off-shore development teams.

Andrew was sponsored through his undergraduate degree by Thorn EMI Electronics, where he had worked on various aspects of Radar electronic warfare systems and Infra-Red sensors. His early working career was developing military weapon training systems and on delivering bespoke systems to the Public Sector, including leading the design and development of one of the first Digital CCTV systems for Police Forces in the late 1990s. From there he moved into the world of commercial software development, and eventually made his way to Experian.

Andrew comes from an academic background, having complete a PhD in Microelectronics in 1997 at Loughborough University after a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and master's degree in Microelectronic Systems from Brunel University. He is married with two young children and lives in a small village on the edge of Buckingham

Keith Tierney - Operations Manager

Keith joined the company in June 2011. Having initially left school to start an apprenticeship as a draftsman, Keith returned to complete his A levels before joining the Metropolitan Police in 1981 where he served as an Authorised Firearms Officer until transferring to Bedfordshire Police in 1986.

He continued his career in firearms becoming the Chief Firearms Instructor for Bedfordshire, before leaving to join the National Policing Improvement Agencies Specialist Firearms Advisor’s Team in 2008. Having completed his 30 years of Police Service, Keith has now started his second career with JML Software.

Philip Moorcroft - Business Development Manager

Philip joined JML Software Solutions in August 2008. In 1977 he joined Hertfordshire Constabulary where he served as an authorised firearms officer and later a member of the firearms training staff. In 1997 he was involved in setting up the first tri-force collaboration project merging the dynamic entry teams of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and his own force, a structure now enhanced some 14 years later by the extensive collaborative work between the three forces.

In 2001 Philip transferred to Lancashire Constabulary’s firearms training department finally taking up the post of chief firearms instructor. Whilst with Lancashire he replicated the tri-force agreement for dynamic intervention this time with all five forces of the North West.

Prior to leaving Lancashire Constabulary Philip worked twice with the Independent Police Complaints Commission reviewing police shootings. He also worked on the NPIA’s firearms silver command training and accreditation project. On completing 30 years service Philip worked for a period at Lancaster College prior to joining JML Software.
